The long-standing partnership is unparalleled. For years, effect pigment provider ECKART and Sappi, a leading global manufacturer and supplier of wood fiber products, have used their market experience for various joint projects. Their partnership is based on mutual trust. One example is ECKART's illoom. look book for its effect pigment inks, which was printed on paperboard from the Sappi Algro Design family. To achieve the full potential of the metallic effect, it is essential that the substrate has a good surface quality. The brilliant white SBS paperboard Algro Design from Sappi shows off the effects so well that it is hard to put the sample box down.

A special champagne bottle for the Pack & Spirit trade fair

ECKART had a joint stand with the French mock-up producer Digital Packaging at the Pack & Spirit trade fair in Reims. For this occasion, the two exhibitors produced champagne bottles specially designed for their stand. For the champagne box, Sappi provided its premium paperboard Algro Design. The cooperation couldn't have been better: Digital Packaging took care of the UV offset printing, ECKART provided the inks, and, with Algro Design 160 g/m², Sappi supplied the optimum substrate for a perfect result. The illoom. TOPSTAR UV 21 1000 effect pigment ink was used for the silver metallic effect on the champagne box, while ULTRASTAR FX-604 was used on the bottle. The bottle and box were both designed by the French creative studio Athanore.

Effect pigment inks as an alternative to hot and cold foil stamping

The result won over not only the three partners but also the visitors to the trade fair for luxury packaging in the wine and spirits industry. Print finishing using metallic effects from ECKART is highly efficient in comparison with substrate-specific techniques such as metallized paper and paperboard or hot and cold foil stamping. This method of realistic visualization thus presents a convincing and economical alternative to hot and cold foil stamping when it comes to upgrading designs using metallic effects.
